Chris here-  Meg this poem is awesome.  All I can do is go down and bold stuff that I didn’t quite get, think can mayb be better, but I think its put together so well.. cant even touch the first page… the haiku/list thing is perfect.

feedback for meg - please!!!

An all hours CVS

Dropped thirty dollars on impulse

Pawned bills for coins in a gas station parking lot

And waved to the cars as they watched us pump air into a blow up kiddie pool

And ran a fifteen foot float across Sunrise Highway

Snuck into a public lake that closes at dusk

Laughed at the “No Swimming Signs.”

Abandoned our sandals

The scent of adventure in the tree branches we claimed as oars

“Be careful.

You might hear this in a poem someday.”

A haiku:

Kleptomaniac.

Sticky finger heart stealer

Could have had it free.

A list:

Inability to tolerate boredom

A FUCK YOU to authority

Superficial charm

Never saying “I’m Sorry”

Extreme spontaneity

Failure to conform to social norms

And promiscuous fuck fest tendencies

A couplet:

That’s not spontaneity.

That’s an anti-social personality

It’s exciting and it’s everything every girl has ever loved about you.

You’re a rhinestone in the rough                I don’t think this part is as strong as the rest of it

Beneath belt buckles I unbutton your bluff

You bite my neck with dentures

As I scratch your pleather back

You only counterfeit into me

Your words are all plastic

You are mannequin skin

And in a cubic zirconium moment you whisper

“I am. never. Letting. Go.”

But with my ear pressed

To your silicone chest

I am a stethoscope

And I can only hear echoes      maybe keep this, im not even sure

And you’re so vain,

You probably think this slam is about you

Don’t you?

DON’T YOU?

DON’T YOU EVER

With a fistful of her hair

And a mouthful of her scrapbook

You kiss the apocalypse

Leave her with nothing but midnight

Handed out second chances    prob. Makes great sense to you not to us though

Beneath doormats and house rocks

Acted surprised when we find you inside us again

Claiming it’s not rape if you’ve thumb wrestled us   I guess this one we can kind of figure out ourselves but I also feel it’s a bit of an insider thing?

Restless into handshake,

Fake handhold

Drop cherry bomb                  its such an amazing poem I don’t want to be lost for even a few lines

Break your rage on something she had the face for

You were never a virgin

Because you’ve fucked girls under

And sideways

And over

And nowadays

You’re the reason we can only trust our daddys

But you were fatherless, featherless, lawless

And flawless       why is he flawless

In the eyes of a kaliedescope you blackened her eyes into.

A haiku:

Apologizing

Never sounded genuine

From a liar’s lips

A list:

Nicole, the girl who never gave you what you wanted

Katy, the girl who gave you what you wanted

Aneela, the best friend of the girl who gave you what you wanted.

Megan

Megan

Megan

Me.

You can’t possess the wind and I know that’s always made you doubt yourself.

You imprison butterflies in the cages of your ribs and shift your bones so they can’t slip through the holes.     Maybe find a better word for holes

And I wonder how I was beating winged big enough to linger in the hallway of your thorax  - isnt a thorax one of the characters from the doctor sues book?  Okay its something in your throat but I didn’t get it

And never lose my pigment beneath your forty hands and your virgin nothings.

A couplet:

Virgins are just girls you haven’t taken out for pizza yet

And instead of an epic this poem should have been an epitaph

In the cemetery of my armspan

Where I buried you ghost bones        not sure

Because where else does the love go?

When the kisses stop coming

And you’ve been kissing a liar.

Here he lies

We have only pieces of what

To leave on your grave

A coldsore to validate her lips by.

HERE HE LIED.

He faked it.

So good.  I could list all the thingsi  loved but its just everything that’s not in bold.  Some really strong parts in this
